Legal
Terms & Conditions
The basis on which we quote for, carry out and guarantee our work.
About these terms
These terms apply to work carried out by R Electrical Solutions Ltd, Derby, DE22 1EJ. They sit alongside your written quotation; where a quotation states something specific to your project, that takes precedence.
Consultations and quotations
The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation. Quotations are based on the scope discussed and on what can reasonably be seen at the time of survey, and remain valid for the period stated on the quotation.
Work only begins once the quotation has been accepted in writing. Changes requested after acceptance, or conditions that could not reasonably have been identified at survey — for example concealed damage or non-compliant existing installations — may affect price and programme, and will be raised with you before any additional work is carried out.
Standards and certification
All electrical work is carried out to the current edition of BS 7671 and is tested and certified accordingly. We are NAPIT registered at Full Scope, and notifiable work is notified through that scheme. Certificates are issued on completion of the relevant works.
Guarantee
Qualifying installations carry a NAPIT-backed 6-year workmanship guarantee. The guarantee covers our workmanship; equipment and materials carry the manufacturer's own warranty, which we will register and pass on to you where applicable.
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by third-party alteration of the installation, misuse, accidental damage, or faults arising from equipment or systems we did not supply or install.
Access and site conditions
We ask that safe and reasonable access to the property and to the areas being worked on is available on agreed working days, including access to the consumer unit and any relevant service positions. Where access cannot be provided as arranged, additional visits may be chargeable.
Reasonable care is taken to protect finishes, but making good to decorative standard — filling, plastering and redecoration — is not included unless stated in the quotation.
Payment
Payment terms are set out on your quotation and invoice. Installation projects are normally staged as a deposit on acceptance, a payment on completion of first fix, a payment on completion of second fix and a final balance on completion and handover. Any deposit required for materials is stated in the quotation before you commit.
The initial consultation is free. Detailed design work — where a project requires system design, schematics or specification ahead of installation — is chargeable and will be quoted separately before it begins.
Cancellation
If you are a consumer and the contract was agreed away from our business premises, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. If you ask us to begin work within that period and then cancel, we may charge for work already carried out and for materials ordered specifically for your project.
Liability
We hold £10m public and employers' liability insurance and £1m professional indemnity insurance. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Complaints
If something is not right, contact us first at hello@relectricalsolutions.com or on 07970 285567 and we will work to resolve it. Where an issue concerns notifiable electrical work, it can also be raised with our certification body.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
