This is the core electrical contracting work: complete and partial rewires, consumer unit replacement, additional circuits for kitchens, extensions and outbuildings, garden and driveway power, and new build first and second fix. We hold NAPIT Full Scope registration, which covers all aspects of electrical work rather than a limited scope of installation types.
A rewire is the point at which the building's capability is set for the next thirty years. Circuit counts, cable routes, socket positions, consumer unit capacity and spare ways determine what can be added later without opening walls again — including automation, EV charging, solar and heat pumps, all of which have arrived in ordinary homes since most existing installations were designed.
Because automation is our other specialism, we design installations with that future in mind by default: circuits split usefully, a consumer unit with genuine spare capacity, data run alongside mains where it costs almost nothing to add now, and cable routes documented rather than forgotten.

What it costs to leave it
An old installation does not fail gradually — it fails on the day it matters
Deteriorating wiring gives quiet warnings before it gives loud ones: a breaker that trips occasionally, a socket that feels warm, lights that dim when the shower runs, a faint smell near a fitting. Each is easy to work around and each indicates a circuit under stress. Old rubber and fabric insulation becomes brittle and cracks away from the conductor, exposing live copper inside walls and ceiling voids where nothing is visible.
Older boards make the consequences worse. Installations without RCD protection remove the layer that prevents an electric shock from becoming a fatal one, and a rewireable fuse board offers none of the discrimination that keeps a fault on one circuit from taking out the whole property. These are safety issues rather than convenience issues.
There is a financial dimension too. A failed EICR can hold up a sale or a tenancy. Insurers ask about installation condition after a fire. And piecemeal patching — a new circuit here, a spur there — spends money repeatedly on an installation that still needs replacing, whereas one planned rewire done alongside decoration is significantly cheaper and less disruptive than the same work forced through afterwards.

How much does a rewire cost in Derby?
Property size, construction, access, the number of circuits and how much making good is involved all change the figure substantially, so we do not publish prices. The initial assessment is free and you receive a written quotation with a defined scope.
How long does a full rewire take?
For a typical house, first fix and second fix together usually run over one to two weeks depending on size and access, plus testing and certification. We give you a programme in writing before starting.
Can I stay in the house during a rewire?
Usually, yes. We stage the work room by room and keep power and lighting available to the areas you are using, agreeing the sequence with you before we start.
Do I need a full rewire or just a new consumer unit?
Testing tells us. A board upgrade on sound circuits is a good investment; a board upgrade on deteriorated wiring simply detects the faults it was always going to. We test first and recommend accordingly.
Will you make good after chasing and lifting floors?
Making good is agreed in the quotation so there are no surprises. We set out exactly what is included and what your decorator or builder picks up.
What certification do I receive?
An Electrical Installation Certificate for the work carried out, with notification handled through our NAPIT registration — the documentation surveys, insurers and letting agents ask for.
How long should an electrical installation last?
A properly installed rewire is expected to serve for decades, with periodic inspection recommended at around ten years for owner-occupied homes and five for rented property.

Emergency and out-of-hours support is available on request. It is not sold as a standard guaranteed service, but call and we will tell you honestly what we can do and when.
What guarantee and insurance do you carry?
Qualifying installation work carries a 6-year NAPIT-backed workmanship guarantee, with a minimum one-year guarantee on other work. We hold £10m public liability, £10m employers' liability and £1m professional indemnity, and issue RAMS on request.
