Our story
Most smart home companies are integrators who bring an electrician in, or electricians who bolt on a smart product they half understand. R Electrical Solutions Ltd exists because the interesting work sits exactly where those two trades meet — and because homeowners kept being handed systems that looked impressive in a demo and behaved unpredictably once the family moved back in.
Ross Hutchinson has spent 16+ years across domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installation, including control panel work and production-line commissioning on bespoke food-handling systems. That industrial background changes how a house gets wired. Cable routes are planned rather than improvised, control lives in a labelled enclosure rather than scattered behind switch plates, and every function is proven on site before anyone calls the job finished.
Today the company specialises in Loxone-based whole-home and whole-building automation as an Official Loxone Partner — lighting, heating and HVAC, blinds, audio, access, CCTV and alarms brought under one system — alongside the full range of conventional electrical contracting: rewires, consumer unit upgrades, EICRs and testing, commercial installations, EV charge points and solar.
We help homeowners renovating or extending a property, self-builders who want the infrastructure right at first fix, landlords and letting agents who need compliant certification, and commercial clients running Loxone, Trend, KNX or Schneider systems that need commissioning or fault finding. The work is carried out from a Derby (DE22) base across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire.
The company is deliberately small: three tradespeople on the tools and an admin assistant keeping quotations, certification and scheduling moving, with Ross leading design and commissioning on every project.
